Free algo trading tools
These free tools do the arithmetic that sits around a trading strategy: how large a position can be, what a stop and a target imply, how much of your risk goes on costs, whether a backtest is likely to be overfitted, and how far paper trading has drifted from the backtest. They run in your browser, store nothing and need no account.
The tools
- Position size calculatorHow large a trade can be so that hitting the stop loses a fixed share of capital, with fees included.
- Risk to reward calculatorThe reward-to-risk ratio of a stop and a target, and the win rate needed to break even before and after costs.
- Fee to risk calculatorHow much of the risk you take is spent on fees and slippage, and the smallest stop that keeps it under your own limit.
- Backtest overfitting checklistEleven yes-or-no checks that show how likely it is that a good-looking backtest is a product of the search.
- Paper versus backtest drift checkerCompare a backtest with a paper-trading run of the same length and see where the two disagree.
What these tools promise, and what they do not
Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, stored or logged, and you do not need an account. The starting numbers in each one are made up, so you see a worked result as soon as the page loads.
They compute what your inputs imply. They do not tell you what to trade, how much to risk or whether a setup is sound, and where a threshold appears it is either your own input or a labelled rule of thumb. AKQX is software only, is not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser or Research Analyst, and nothing here is investment advice.
